Just a few decades ago, freshly hired employees were expected to stay with their new company for the long haul and sometimes even for life. Because of this paradigm, traditional new employee onboarding and orientation programs mainly featured a brief introduction to the company and perhaps a speech from the managing director, followed by reams of forms and paperwork to fill in.
